The Italian Style Harpsichord

 

Built by Adam Decker after instruments built in the 16th Century Venetian School (1520's and later)  Style built through 16th through 17th Century from a kit from Zuckerman Harpsichords.  Major work performed on it by Paul Irvin 

These instruments were made to be placed inside an ornate case.  This instrument has very thin walls made of Poplar.  For information on Italian harpsichords see http://www.harpsichord-man.com/inrital.htm

Two sets of strings: Strung entirely of Brass

This instrument uses Celcon quills and Pearwood Jacks.

Keys are made of Boxwood, "Skunk tails" - are made Box wood and Rose wood stripped together

Range: Great C to D3, Lower Keys are D & E with a short, broken octave in the bass, Goes down to C, 2 Upper Keys are F Sharp and D Sharp
